About us

Government Arts and Science College, Thondamuthur was first established in the year 2017 as a Constituent College of Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. Formally, known as Bharathiar University Arts and Science College, Thondamuthur, this institution was established with six under graduate Courses namely, B.Com (Professional Accounting), B.Com (Computer Application), B.A English Literature, BBA, B.Sc Maths and B.A. Economics.
It got converted into a Government College during the Academic Year 2020-2021. With the continuous support of the Government of Tamilnadu, this institution now known as Government Arts and Science College, Thondamuthur got its first Post Graduate course in Management, Master of Business Administration (MBA) during this academic year.
In the year 2017-2018 it began with about 225 students and at present, it offers its educational service to nearly 950 students including boys and girls. Situated in a rural area, where the students did not have access for higher education, its mission is to provide quality education to the economically backward and especially weaker sections, with its affordable fee structure.
Further, with the view to pay special attention towards women empowerment in the rural segment, it admits them at majority. It also functions well in achieving the above motto. Presently, this institution is functioning with 36 Teaching Staff wherein nearly 68% of the faculty are qualified with Doctor of Philosophy.
This Institution has a number of welfare committees in addition to the regular committees, such as RRC, YRC, Eco club, Swatch bharat, Women’s forum, Students Welfare Club, ICC, Fine Arts, Consumer Protection Forum, Legal Literacy Cell and Anti Drug Compliance and Redressal Cell. With the support of the Government of Tamilnadu this institution is providing Employment opportunity for its students by offering skilled courses under Naan Mudhalvan Scheme.
